Filifera is a high-end weed startup, growing and distributing organically grown, pesticide and GMO-free cannabis with a green and ethical ethos. Founded in East LA and licensed through LA’s Social Equity Program, which grants licenses to applicants with prior cannabis convictions, it combines our love of tech, social justice, and getting high AF.

Filifera approached us with a blank slate and a tight launch deadline of 4/20. The brief was “nothing that obviously looks like a weed site and something fun to play with when you’re high.” We took inspiration from high-end cosmetics and a clean, scientific Swiss typographic style to design a site that spoke to the verifiable quality of the product while celebrating its renegade roots. We then built some cool tools to engage the user – an “x-ray” feature to see inside the cans, a 5x to 1000x “microscope” to zoom into the trichomes, and an interactive terpene wheel.

We extended our online brand design into unique product packaging design. Filifera’s cannabis is nitrogen sealed inside clear plastic cans with metal pull tab lids. A unique bud stabilizer is employed inside the can to minimize movement, which also doubles as a business card and brand statement.
